St Mark’s School Welcomes New Headteacher to

Spring Open Events,

Thursday 13 and Friday 14 March 2014

Staff and students at St Mark’s School have organised two special Open Events this spring for families who are considering a secondary school placement for their son or daughter in September 2014 and beyond to September 2015.

On Thursday 13 March from 6:30-8:00pm there will be an informal open evening in the Library to meet Headteacher Designate, Mr Barnaby Ash, and hear of his vision for an outstanding and exceptional secondary school in the heart of Larkhall. Mr Ash will present his ambitions for St Mark’s School and answer any questions that prospective families may have. Prospective families are welcome to register their interest for this event by telephoning 01225 312661 or email stmarks_sec@BATHNES.gov.uk in advance.

On Friday 14 March from 9:15am–11:00am, parents/carers and years 5 and 6 pupils are invited to join staff and students for a Celebration Assembly followed by an opportunity to meet Mr Ash and speak with him, staff and students about St Mark’s with tours available of the school should visitors wish.

Families are invited to meet the new Headteacher Designate, take part in a range of fun and creative activities at the open morning and get a ‘feel’ for what their local school can offer them. The events will provide an insight into how a school works, its ethos and values and how it balances academic achievement with pastoral care that is supportive and nurturing.

“St Mark’s is a very good school, based in the heart of the community of Larkhall, where young people of all abilities thrive in a nurturing and caring environment,” said Executive Headteacher, Raymond Friel.

“The message from local people is that St Mark’s is now very much an option for them as the school of choice for their children and we would therefore urge local families with primary-aged children to visit the school and discover all that it has to offer.”

“The team at St Mark’s have been working hard to extend the enrichment opportunities for pupils as well as continuing to improve academic standards above and beyond national averages. Mr Ash is looking forward to building on these achievements and making St Mark’s the school of choice for local families.”

“The federation with St Gregory’s will continue to provide exciting joint activities, such as Duke of Edinburgh programmes, joint trips, and opportunities to study performing arts subjects.”
