St Mark’s Spirituality Day 2025: coming soon…
On Thursday 19th June, St Mark’s will celebrate Spirituality Day – an opportunity for students to explore how every subject across the curriculum can offer deep, meaningful spiritual engagement that is relevant, inspiring, and connected to life beyond the classroom.
Spiritual development is not confined to religion; it is a universal part of the human experience, including for those with no religious faith or affiliation. At St Mark’s, we define spirituality as “an awareness of meaning, beauty, and connection that goes beyond our everyday experience.” To help students reflect on spiritual moments, we’ve developed an ABCD of spirituality, framing experiences into four overlapping categories: Awe and wonder, Beauty, Connection, and Deeper meaning. Our goal is for every student to encounter moments of awe and wonder, to build meaningful connections, and to discover beauty in the world around them.
Whether through teamwork in PE, exploring patterns and the power of numbers in maths, or reflecting on the long-term consequences of human actions in history, we believe each student will find something that inspires and moves them.
Our students follow a broad and ambitious curriculum, often divided into distinct disciplines such as science, geography, and English. Yet, in reality, these subjects are interwoven – each offering a unique perspective on the world while contributing to a shared understanding. We hope Spirituality Day will help students appreciate the wonder within each subject and see how their learning connects to the wider world, shaping their understanding of what it means to live fully and meaningfully.
We look forward to a successful day – and to building on this experience in the next academic year as we continue to explore the spiritual dimension of learning.
