Our Governors
The governing body consists of twenty members. The Full Governing Body (FGB) meets five times a year, with additional sub-committees meeting before each of the FGB meetings. The committee structure deals with specific issues relating to:

Christian Vision, Curriculum and Achievement, Finance & Premises and Staffing.

The Governing Body is formed under an Instrument of Government which took effect from 12/9/17.

  • I have been a governor at St Mark’s School and Chair of Governors since 2008. I am passionate about St Mark’s School; we have a great school with great staff, students and governors, at a time when many exciting projects are about to come to fruition. Married with four children and eight grandchildren I have always been in Agriculture, mainly in Dairying, but for the last thirty years I have been supplying seed and fertiliser to farmers throughout the UK.

  • I began my career as a teacher of French and Spanish in secondary schools and now also teach ESOL in a College of Further Education. I was a governor at Wick Primary School for several years, serving as Chair of Governors in my last year. I have been a governor at St Mark’s School since 2008 and have been Vice Chair of Governors since 2010. I chair the Curriculum and Achievement Committee as well as serving on the Staffing, Finance and Premises, Joint Sixth Form and Joint Executive Committees. I am passionate about education and about St Mark’s School. Both our children attended St Mark’s School.

  • I have been Governor at St Mark’s for 17 years because it was then I became Rector of St Saviour’s Church, the Parish in which St Mark’s resides. I am Chair of the Finance of Premises Committee. I am married and have four children: the youngest two have been all the way through St Mark’s. My one desire for St Mark’s students is that they fulfil their God given potential and make positive contributions to our society.

  • I started as a secondary teacher, then became an Advisor, and in Bath my career concluded in higher education training teachers. Since retiring, I am serving on deanery and diocesan synods and the Diocesan Board of Education. Serving the community, particularly in education, is important to me and I value my work at St Mark’s where I have been a governor for a number of years. I have travelled widely in addition to holidays: training teachers in Swaziland, and two short terms working in the slums of Delhi: the latter a life transforming experience. I worship St Swithun’s, Bathford, where I serve in a number of ways.

I work as a lawyer in Bath, specialising in corporate law. My husband and our four children live in a small village about ten miles outside Bath near Corsham. We are members of our local Baptist church in Corsham.

I worship at St Saviour’s where I co-lead our children’s work and head up our Fair Trade activities. I work in the Sanctuary one morning a week at Breakfast Club and I occasionally give a whole school assembly. I also go into St Saviour’s Infant and Junior schools on a weekly basis with Fair Trade tuck shops.

  • I have had two daughters at St Mark’s and work as a part time Schools & Youth Worker for Bath Youth for Christ on the east side of Bath. I work in The Sanctuary one day a week where I run Breakfast Club, and see young people for mentoring. I think St Mark’s is an excellent school and should be supported by the local community. I worship at St Luke’s Church on Wellsway, Bath.

  • A teacher since 1974, I worked at St Mark’s School for twenty one years having been a Teacher, Head of Sixth Form and Senior Teacher and then Administration Manager. I retired from St Marks in 2011 and became a governor in 2013. I enjoy the role: it is a delight to see students leave St Mark’s having been given the opportunity to develop fully in body, mind and spirit. With my education background I both challenge and support the school in all areas, helping it to develop and grow. Outside education I am a member of the Church of England, I enjoy doing craft work of all types, cooking and reading.

  • I have worked with children all my life, mainly as a Riding Teacher and a Vaulting Instructor. I also qualified as a Teaching Assistant to work child friendly hours.   • I started my own wine company in Bath in 1983, and later sold in 2010, by which time it was importing from all over the world and selling to consumers, restaurant and other wine companies. Married with two daughters, I enjoy running and rowing, playing golf (which sadly lacks adequate skill and technique), and watching all sport especially Bath Rugby.   • I have been Assistant Headteacher at St Mark’s since September 2013. I have previously worked at three schools which included working on two management teams. This involved performing with the BBC concert orchestra, playing and recording with The Stranglers and touring the world for five years. I am married and have a daughter who is at UCL and a son who is at Bath College.

I have been the Headteacher of The Meriton in Bristol for 27 years, giving education and support to young parents, leading the school to 3 ‘Outstanding’ OFSTEDs. In 2002 I was awarded an MBE for this work. Recently retired, I will continue to fight for an education system which promotes equality and progression for all. My children went to St Mark’s. I live locally and believe in St Mark’s, and want it to be at the heart of the local community.
